INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA, May 28, 2007 – Minardi Team USA completed its second day of testing at the Circuit Mont-Tremblant on Friday, May 25, on a positive note, with Robert Doornbos fourth quickest and Dan Clarke eighth.
Robert Doornbos, who is currently leading the Roshfrans Rookie of the Year standings and third in Championship points, had a fast time of 1 min 16.76 secs. Despite there not being any Champ Car World Series races during May, the young Dutchman has had a busy month, with the Champ Car test in Portland, the European Media Tour, and now the test at Mont-Tremblant. After completing his program at Mont-Tremblant, Robert headed back to Monte Carlo, to attend Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix.
Dan Clarke was eighth quickest on Friday, with a time of 1 min 17.05 secs. ‘Speedy’ Dan had a minor off-track excursion late in the afternoon, which brought a premature end to his final day of testing, but showed good pace on both days at Mont-Tremblant, and looks likely to have a strong showing here in late June.
Keith Wiggins, Team Co-Owner
“We accomplished what we came here to do. We learned a lot about the behaviour of the car on this circuit and it gave Robert and Dan a chance to see the track. It was a good test for both drivers and we look forward to recommencing the season in Portland.”
Minardi Team USA heads to Portland June 8-10 for Round Four of the Champ Car World Series.
